Live Video Stream of 2010 Jaguar XJ Presnetation in London

The all-new 2010 Jaguar XJ will be officially launched this Thursday, 9th July at a special event at the Saatchi Gallery in London. The glitzy presentation will be performed by former late-night TV talk-show host and car aficionado, Jay Leno who will be joined by Mike O'Driscoll, Managing Director at Jaguar Cars. You can watch the unveiling of the British firm's all-new luxury saloon live here on Carscoop through a streaming video that we will upload on our site that day.

The presentation will start at 8:15pm London time (New York EST 3:15pm, Los Angeles 12:15pm, Rome - Italy 9:15pm, Melbourne - Australia 5:15am, Tokyo - Japan 4:15am).

As a refresher, the new XJ will be Jaguar's first car to feature the next-generation of its aerospace-inspired aluminium body architecture with powertrain options including the firm's latest V6 diesel and V8 gasoline engines.

Jag's BMW 7-Series fighting model, which is expected to feature a modern design partially inspired from the smaller XF, will be in dealerships from the end of this year.

2010 Jaguar XJ: No More Teasers, First Official Photos Break Cover on the Web!

So much for Jaguar's 'Grand Plan' to reveal the 2010 XJ at London tomorrow. A wallpaper website -we're not even kidding - just published the first official pictures of the British firm's all-new luxury sedan. Cutting to the chase, we'd like to see the new Jag up close before making any assessments, but our first take is that it is going to take some time getting used to the saloon's revolutionary styling that breaks from the traditional XJ mold.

While the sedan's front-end design is an evolution of the XF's fascia -no surprise there, the rest of the car and especially the fastback-like rear-end with the unconventional wraparound windshield that covers the rear pillars and the Quattroporte-esque tail lamps are something entirely new and a great departure from the current XJ's classic, but definitely outdated, lines.

We're still short on details, but the British automaker has disclosed that the new XJ will be the first car to feature the next-generation of Jaguar's aerospace-inspired aluminium body architecture and that it will be powered by a choice of V6 diesel and V8 gasoline engines including the XFR's 510HP supercharged V8.

The XJ will be available for order from the end of this week, with first customer deliveries expected towards the end of the year.

UPDATE 1 - Photos Removed Upon Jaguar's Request

UPDATE 2 - Not that you can't see the new XJ on numerous other sites and forums around the web, but just to get an idea of what you missed out, here's how we remember the Jaguarporte's buttocks: (PS; Don't take our humoristic chop seriously...)

UPDATE 3 - We're "honored" that Jaguar sent us a letter from their solicitor threatening to take legal actions, but completely confused to as why they allow Car and Driver for example to Publish the photos - unless that is, they check us out first or believe we have more money :-)

UPDATE 4 - Jaguar allows Edmunds to post this photo - talk about double standards

UPDATE 5 - I think we've made our point

2010 Jaguar XJ Teaser Film No5: The Interior

We can't blame you if you've lost interest in Jaguar's teaser videos on the upcoming 2010 XJ as the British firm hasn't really revealed anything interesting on its new luxury sedan in any of the films. Same goes for the latest video that features Jaguar's chief designer, Ian Callum vaguely talking about the new interior while we also get a quick glimpse of the XJ's front headrests, but that's about it. Watch the video after the jump and stay tuned on Carscoop as Jag's flagship model will be officially launched on Thursday, July 9.

Jaguar: New Video and Teaser Photo of 2010 XJ Sedan

In its latest line of releases on the forthcoming 2010 XJ, Jaguar turns its focus on the luxury sedan's aluminum body shell that has apparent advantages in weight savings and consequently, in fuel economy and CO2 emissions. Along with the new video that features Jaguar's Chief Technical Specialist for Body and Engineering, Mark White and the firm's Vehicle Line Director, Mick Mohan, the British automaker also published a new photo depicting the XJ's body shell.

From what we learned, next week's episode -yes, there's more to come as Jaguar is planning to show another seven videos until the official debut of the car on July 9, will be on the new XJ's driving dynamics.

Spy Video: Jaguar's 2010 XJ Sedan Scooped on the Road

We're still struggling to figure out how the 2010 Jaguar XJ sedan will look like as neither the cryptic teaser photos nor the spy shots of the armor-like camouflaged prototype models are of any help. But we'll soon find out as Jaguar has promised to officially reveal the new XJ in a few weeks time, on July 9. In the meantime, follow the jump to check out a prototype model of the new XJ that was caught on film by a member of Youtube.

Russian Customizer Turns a Jaguar into a GAZ-21 Lookalike

Previously on Carscoop, we’ve seen Pontiac Fieros turned into “Fierarris”, Toyota Soarers adorned with Mercedes-Benzes off cuts and some others too hideous to even mention. For the most part, it’s a case of turning a boring, mainstream car into something that resembles a high-priced exotic if you’re squinting through grease paper with the sun in your eyes and have lost a lot of blood.

What you rarely see is something exotic transformed into something that some people would call mundane. That’d just be silly. Never to be one to shy away from a challenge, the Russians have done just that: taken a Jag and turned it into a GAZ.

Originally this car was a 1993 Jaguar XJ40 with an automatic transmission and a 3.2 L V6. Its exterior has been adorned with the grille, head- and taillights, unique side vents and boot emblem from a ‘70s Volga. It’s not quite in the same league as the BMW 6-series derived Volga V8 Roadster or the Porsche Cayenne-based “Lenin-mobile”, but it’s still an impressive transformation.

No awkward shutlines, no weird overhangs: it just goes to show, when it comes to customization, the Russians know their craft. Maybe the results aren’t always attractive or tasteful, but they’ve got the engineering and mechanical side down pat.

To understand why this was done, you need to understand what the GAZ M21 Volga or GAZ-21 means to Russia. Over there, it’s as ubiquitous and well liked as the Mini, Checker cab or Citroen 2CV are in their respective nations. So it’s no surprise that Volga owners shower a lot of care and attention on their cars.

Working-class Americans used to aspire to own Cadillacs. Working-class poms used to aspire to own Rovers. And in Russia, working-class Russians aspired to own a GAZ. It’s that simple. Check out our gallery and let us know your view in the comments section below.

2010 Jaguar XJ Teaser Video No4: Driving Dynamics

The countdown for the presentation of the all-new Jaguar XJ sedan has begun as in 10 days from now, the British automaker will properly reveal its BMW 7-Series contender in London on July 9. In the meantime, Jaguar continues to bombard us with trivial details on the car. In this latest video, Jaguar's Chief Engineer, Mike Cross talks about the new XJ's driving dynamics and how the car has been designed to be "agile" yet "refined and comfortable". Watch the film after the jump.

Jaguar Publishes New Teaser Video of 2010 XJ Sedan

If you're willing to throw away about a minute or so of your time, then be my guest to skip the jump and watch Jaguar's new teaser video on the upcoming XJ luxury sedan. In the third promo film, Jaguar's Technical Specialist for Audio Systems, Matt Jones talks about the new XJ's Bowers & Wilkins audio system. It's even more boring than it sounds (sic) so don't say that we didn't warn you. For something a bit more interesting on the new Jag click here for our previous (spy shot) story on the 2010 XJ that's due to make its public premiere during the second week of July.

VIDEO: Jaguar's Ian Callum Talks About New 2010 XJ Sedan Design

In early July, Jaguar will lift the covers off its Mercedes-Benz S-Class rivaling, 2010 XJ luxury sedan, ahead of the car's market debut at the end of the year. Following the release of a set of teaser photos at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, Jaguar has now published a short video interview with the British firm's design chief, Ian Callum who talks about the design philosophy behind the new XJ. Among other things, Callum claims that with the new XJ sedan, Jag's design team "took 30 years of learning and put it into something that is very complete." Hit the jump to watch the video but don't get too excited...

Jaguar XJC Coupe Classic Seeks Hip Cat to Pose Alongside

Every car enthusiast has their obsessions. For some it's '50s Chevys or '30s Fords; for others it's Chargers or Beamers or just about anything else you can think of. For me, it's Jaguars. I don't know why exactly. Could it be because they're big, affordable British luxury cars with sporting pretensions? You know, Bentleys for the upper middle class.

And there's more. I don't think there's a Jaguar I don't like. I'm even a fan of the bloated, much maligned XJS of the '70s, '80s and even '90s. So surely I'd be interested in this black, mostly stock 1976 Jaguar XJC Coupe? Here's the thing:

Other than the colour, year and what we can derive of the car's condition from looking at the photos, there's really no information on this car. How many miles it's done, what modifications have been made etcetera. All things a potential buyer would want to know. And as a Jaguar aficionado, I know that '70s Jags are bad enough before you start tinkering with them.

So maybe I'll pass on this one (besides, Connecticut is a few thousand miles further away from me than I'd like). Though if you are a Jaguar fan and live close to Motorcars Incorporated's lot in Plainville, you can pick up this potential gem for just US$27,500 (€20,114). Not a bad haul for an old cat.

Jaguar Recalling 6,475 XJ Sedans in the States Due to Faulty Windshield Wipers

When you're sitting behind the wheel of a new Jaguar XJ, it would appear that no rainy day could affect your mood. Well, except for those 6,475 U.S.-spec units manufactured between July 28, 2009 and November 3, 2010, on which the front wiper arms weren't sufficiently torqued during assembly. Consequently, Jaguar has issued a recall for the affected cars, according to a NHTSA press release.

The safety agency said on its website that during operation, the securing nuts could fail, resulting in a loss of synchronization and ultimately lead to a clash [sic] of the wiper arms. Furthermore, the wipers could detach from the car and leave the driver blind in the middle of the pouring rain. And that can't be good, especially at highway speeds.

So, dealers will check if the wipers arms are fitted correctly onto the spindle and the securing nuts will be tightened. As with most recalls, the fix will be carried out free of charge.

The recall is set to begin on or before December 13, 2010. For more information owners can call Jaguar at 800-637-6837 or the NHTSA hot line at 888-327-4236.

2010 Jaguar XJ: Official Teaser Photos and Video

At its Shanghai Auto Show press conference today, Jaguar revealed the first teaser shots along with a brief video and initial details on its all-new XJ luxury sedan ahead of the car's official debut that is planned for July 9, 2009. The British firm said that the its new Mercedes-Benz S-Class rival will be offered with a choice of standard- or long wheelbase models that can be equipped with all of Jaguar's new Gen III petrol and diesel engines, including the 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 240 and 275HP and the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that produces 510HP.

Speaking at Auto Shanghai 2009, Jaguar Cars Managing Director, Mike O'Driscoll confirmed that the all-new XJ will be the first car to feature the next-generation of the British automaker's aerospace-inspired, aluminum body architecture that should help reduce the car's weight.

O'Driscoll also claimed that the 2010 XJ "will introduce the highest standards of personal luxury and specification, including a panoramic glass roof."

Depending on market, the British firm's flagship sedan model will be in Jaguar dealerships from the end of this year.
