Cobra N+ Sports Up the new Nissan 370Z Coupe

German tuning firm Cobra Technology and Lifestyle (also known as Cobra N+) has released a new sport package for buyers of the Nissan 370Z Coupe. The carbon fiber aero kit for the Japanese coupe includes a front spoiler, exterior mirror covers and a rear diffuser insert with openings for the two 120-mm tailpipes of the Cobra N+ sport exhaust system. Interior upgrades are limited to carbon-fiber-look scuff plates.

To improve handling, the tuner developed a custom-tailored tire-wheel combination with lightweight 19-inch rims wrapped in 255/40 ZR 19 high-performance tires up front and 285/35 ZR 19 tires at the back. The kit also includes new sport springs that lower the 370Z's ride height by around 30mm and a sport suspension with adjustable damper rates.

For a more sonorous experience from the 3.7-liter V6 engine, Cobra N+ offers a sport muffler with an electronically controlled flap which is said to allow the driver to select an exhaust note ranging from "discrete to pure racing sound" at the push of the button.

The kit does not include any sort of upgrades for the 370Z's engine.

The first Shelby Cobra

http://www.petersen.org/default.cfm?DocID=1014&cat=Shelby&ExhibitID=264&index=6 has a pic of the car recently in the Peterson museum in Pomona (part of Los Angeles).

Carroll shelby once had a special AC Cobra made for Bill Cosby

Bill met Carroll in a department store one day, and Carroll asked Bill why he drove foreign cars - outraged that an American would buy foreign cars. Bill said no American car was fast enough for the daily drive to work. So Carroll took this as a personal slight, being the builder of the coolest and fastest American car, and had a duplicate made of his own personal customized AC Cobra, just like this one in this February 1968 Road and Track article.
Listen to the Bill Cosby stand up routine on side A of the album, 200 MPH around a tree, no one can tell a story as well. Dual supercharged, dual quad, Shelby 427 side oiler... and Carroll had his mechaincs put it together exactly to his specs, and never allowed any others made that could match it. It held the record for the fastest production car for about 3 decades.

Not exactly a production car, but neither is an Enzo model Ferrari. At the level these guys compete, and build, it's close enough for me. Worth reading and learning.

Here is a quick sample of what you'll see in the pits at Speedfest

The above is rare, it's a air cooled opposed piston engine like the VW... DB is the symbol on the nose of the car... stands for Duetsch something... I can't recall, but it was a French company and it was made for rally racing.

Above is a Railton

Big corrals of race cars!

Drag racing Cobra, early, looks like a '64, on of the Cobras equipped with Shelby American Dragonsnake parts

Can't recall where I got the image, but this is the Costilow and Larsen Cobra that won the 1965 US Nationals, CSX2093

great heavens! A DragginSnake!

It was long ago, but you could build your own Shelby Mustang engine, with the Super Cobra Jet components in the "Cobra Kit"
