Senner Releases New Sports Package for Audi A5 Coupe

If there's one thing that Audi A5 owners shouldn't be complaining about, is the lack of variety in tuning proposals. It's got to the point where tuners like Senner are introducing one package after the other. The German firm's latest offerings include a new styling package with various options for both the interior and exterior that can be combined with a kit for the 3.0-liter TDI diesel engine that lifts output to 300HP and 600Nm for a top speed of 280km/h or 174mph.

Senner Tuning's aerodynamic package consists of a carbon fiber front spoiler apron, carbon-fiber mirror housings, a rear spoiler and spoiler lip, and a carbon fiber rear bumper.

Other available mods include a Bilstein B16 PSS10 coilover suspension which is fully adjustable with individual height adjustment and a new stainless steel exhaust system with 4 tailpipes plus a set of 21-inch Evo DS Carlsson alloy wheels.

Audi A5 Sportback: First Official Photos and Details, Including Price - Sales Start this Fall

The brand with the four rings has released the first official teaser shots along with initial information that includes details on the entry prices and the engine range of its much anticipated A5 Sportback. The third variant of the A5 series after the Coupe and Convertible models is a sleek five-door coupe with a low-slung roofline and a large hatchback that draws its inspiration from the Sportback concept study revealed in Detroit earlier this year. The new A5 Sportback will be available with an extended range of turbocharged and naturally aspirated gasoline engines as well as diesel units.

While Audi is holding back on the full blown photos of the car, the German firm tried to give us a picture of the A5 Sportback by comparing the five-door coupe's exterior dimensions to the A4 Sedan. According to the automaker, the A5 fastback (doesn't that sound more correct?) is 36 mm or 1.42 inches lower than the A4 Sedan while it also features shorter overhangs at the front and rear as well as a 2mm longer wheelbase of 2,810 mm (9.22 feet).

Notable styling traits include the frameless doors and of course the fact that unlike other sport sedans of the same philosophy like the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the VW Passat CC, the A5 Sportback features a somewhat more practical lift-gate instead of the traditional trunk. Audi claims that the Sportback's baggage volume of 480 liters (17.0 cubic feet) nearly equals that of the A4 Avant while there's also the option of folding the rear seats down, in which case, the volume increases to 980 liters or 34.6 cubic feet.

There are no teaser photos of the interior but don't expect something radically different from the A4 and A5 models. The premium five-door coupe is a pure four-seater with Audi claiming that it will offer comparable headroom and legroom space with the A4 Sedan.

The initial engine range of the A5 Sportback will consist of two gasoline and three diesel engines. The two gasoline units, the 2.0-liter TFSI with an output of 211HP and 350 Nm or 258 lb-ft of torque and the 3.2-liter V6 generating 265HP will be combined with Audi's all-wheel drive quattro system.

The diesel lineup will include a 2.0 TDI with 170HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft), a 6-speed manual gearbox and start/stop system, the 2.7-liter TDI with 190HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft), and the three-liter V6 TDI with 240HP and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of maximum torque and quattro all-wheel drive.

The A5 Sportback is set to arrive at Audi's European dealerships in September with an entry price of €36,050 in Germany (or about $50,000 US at today's exchange rates) for the 2.0 TDI version. Audi said that in the middle of 2010 it will add a cheaper model in the mix. The automaker did not disclose any other details but we're guessing that the entry-level model will be powered by either the 160HP 1.8-liter TSI or the 180HP 2.0 TFSI gasoline engines.

Those Germans sure love playing around with the words 'black' and 'white'. Hopefully this time, we won't have any controversies of the kind that were created with the AVUS White Power RS6 Avant. But back to our story, German tuning firm Senner has released an array of upgrades for the Audi A5 Coupe. Starting from the outside, Senner Tuning offers a new bodykit with carbon fiber accessories that include a front lip spoiler, mirror housings, rear apron, side skirts and a rear spoiler.

The styling kit is complemented by a set of LED rear lights and 20-inch alloy wheels in massive 245/30 R20 tires at the front and 295/25 R20 at the rear.

Inside, the dashboard can be upgraded with a carbon fiber trim that is available in various finishes.

Audi A5 Sportback: Tailgate Upskirt - Don't get too Excited

Audi took advantage of its TechDay Quality event where the company informed us on the methods it uses to achieve quality standards in series production vehicles, to reveal at least one photo of the 2010 A5 Sportback, that of the five-door coupe's tailgate. Using the process of elimination, we also found a few more photos shot during the event that may be of the A5 Sportback but we aren't entirely sure - they could be depicting the A5 Coupe. Summer Tuning: ABT Takes on the new Audi A5 Convertible

ABT Sportline, the German tuning house that has an appetite for VW Group products, has applied its tuning skills to the new Audi A5 Convertible. Similar to the A5 Coupe, ABT's AS5 tuning package offers power upgrades for most of the engines available in the A5 Convertible's engine range, with the 2.0-liter TFSIs producing 275HP instead of the factory models' 180HP and 211HP, the 2.7-liter TDI diesel 230HP, up from 190HP and the 3.0-liter, 282HP, or with a new ABT turbocharger, 310HP and 610Nm of torque, up from the stock engine's 240HP.

To harness the extra power, the tuning firm also offers an array of suspension and brake system upgrades.

Of course, no tuning package can be complete without visual enhancements. For the A5 Convertible, ABT has readied an aero kit that bundles a distinctive front apron, ABT's black grille, side skirts and a rear apron housing a quad-pipe exhaust system. Customers can also equip their car with a set of BR alloy wheels available in two sizes, 19- and 20-inches.

AVUS Performance Audi A5 Coupe Matte Black with 275HP

It appears that AVUS Performance wants to avoid any mistranslation troubles after the outcry it caused in the media for the RS6 Avant 'White Power' moniker, so the German tuning boutique chose to play it safe and simply name its new proposal, the A5 Coupe Matte Black. The vehicle's stealthily looks were achieved by wrapping the car all around with matt black foil and painting some details like the front grille, mirror covers and the rear diffuser in a black finish.

The A5 Coupe's looks are rounded off by a set of 21-inch Jofiel black Limited Edition wheels in sizes 9,5x21" front and 11x21" at the rear and a set of S5 LED tail lights.

This A5 Coupe comes with Audi's 3.0-liter V6 TDI diesel engine featuring an upgraded ECU that helps boost output to 275HP and 600Nm ( 442.48 lb/ft) of torque. Last but not least, the German tuning house has equipped the A5 Coupe with KW coilovers with adjustable compression and rebound dampening.
