If there was ever a more controversial model as a whole in Porsche's history than the Cayenne Diesel, please let us know. The German sports carmaker's (...) first ever diesel-engine model has arrived in UK showrooms with prices starting from £39,404. That's about £2,600 more than the entry-level Cayenne V6 that features a 290HP 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine. The Cayenne Diesel offers an Audi-derived 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine with 240HP matted to a six-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
Porsche claims that the Cayenne Diesel has an average consumption of 30.4mpg UK on the combined cycle that converts to 9.3 lt/100km or 25.3mpg US with emissions of 244g/km CO2.
The Cayenne's range will be further enhanced in 2010 with the introduction of a gasoline-hybrid version that's expected to exceed 31 mpg UK.
